How to Use This Calculator

1. Select a common battery type or choose "Custom Battery" to specify your own.
2. Enter the battery capacity in milliampere-hours (mAh).
3. Enter the nominal voltage of your battery.
4. Select whether your device has constant consumption or uses sleep modes.
5. For variable consumption, enter the active and sleep currents along with the duty cycle.
6. Adjust the DC-DC converter efficiency if your project uses voltage regulators.
7. The calculator automatically updates with runtime results.

Important Notes

• This calculator provides estimates based on ideal conditions. Real-world performance may vary.
• Battery capacity decreases at higher discharge rates (Peukert's Law).
• Temperature affects battery performance. Cold temperatures reduce capacity.
• Self-discharge is not factored in these calculations, which is important for long-term deployments.
• Most batteries should not be discharged completely. LiPo batteries, for example, should typically not go below 20% capacity.
